Nove tendence so omogočile edinstven pristop k umetnosti kot kontinuiranemu procesu vizualnega raziskovanja;

Ustvarile so relacijske in participatorne estetike, ki so težile k premagovanju odtujenosti;

Ker so inspiracijo črpale z nekaterih najbolj radikalnih idej Bauhausa, prenesene predvsem skozi delo Ulmske šole oblikovanja, so Nove tendence prispevale k temeljem t.i. programirane (računalniške) umetnosti in ustvarile porajajočo se informacijsko estetiko.

Raznovrstni domači in tuji analogni vizualni umetniki ter glasbeniki bodo predstavili svoje načine oblikovanja organskih, nepravilnih, v realnem času ustvarjenih vzorcev in zvokov.

Umetniki

OchoReSotto

Ustanovitelji studia Strictly Analog, skupina OchoReSotto , v vizualno umetnost vnaša perfekcijo analognega.

Izland (Marko Vivoda in Gašper Milkovič - Biloslav)

Obalna umetnika v živo in pred očmi publike ustvarjata likvidne organske vzorce, teksture in oblike, ki so plod mešanja različnih tekočin, raztopin in reagentov.

»Na nek način gre za proti-prostore.« M. Foucault;

echo 10-9 (Robertina Šebjanič in Aleš Hieng - Zergon)

Armin Medosch: NEW TENDENCIES -
Art at the Threshold of the Information Revolution

digitaldish

Saturday, December 7, at 7.30 pm

Ljudmila, Rimska 8, Ljubljana

In this talk, New Tendencies are reconstructed as important precursors of socially engaged media art. This international art movement was formed through a series of exhibitions and related events, starting in 1961 in Zagreb. The talk will show why NT was possible only under the conditions for art provided by the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. NT, emerging under the conditions of the peak of the economic boom following the Second World war, was still part of the Modernist paradigm, but already transcended it with their practices. NT provides a looking glass through which to engage with how from inside of the industrial society a paradigm shift to the information society was in preparation. They contributed to that momentum through three key innovations:

NT created a unique approach to art, by defining it as a continuous process of visual research.

They created a relational and participatory aesthetics that aimed at overcoming alienation.

Taking inspiration from some of the most radical ideas of Bauhaus, transmitted via institutions such as College of Design, Ulm, NT contributed to the foundations of so called programmed art and created an emerging information aesthetics.

Strictly Analog Festival

One day festival of audio-visual performances and lectures about not so obsolete strictly analogue technology!

Saturday, December 14, at 6 pm

Pop-up dom, Tobačna 5, Ljubljana

Tiffany & Monokel, AKC MetelkovaMesto Ljubljana
/ afterparty / BILL YOUNGMAN (live)

As a reaction to the always progressing digitization in not only art, but the general communication among creatives themselves, Strictly analog views itself as a network encouraging alternative/experimental processes in work and communication. Of course, the fact that artists around the world use digital ways of communication is not one to be condemned, the loss of alternatives, however, is still something that needs to be acknowledged. Even though there is some sort of revival of the good, old values in many creative areas, whether they use aged-looking paper in graphic design or super8 in film, there are still certain aspects of an analogue culture missing.

To be able to fight the mediocrity that might awaits you online, it is important to concentrate on unique art projects and productions with a stronger local reference to city or region. If cities are compared internationally, and by that their creative inhabitants too, a regionally-influenced distinction is indispensable. This does by no way mean to move away from international standards, rather does this real exchange of artistic potential that underlies those regions offer the opportunity to blend controllably and consequently an independent creative output.

Strictly analog studio views these aspects as potential and tries to support alternative and experimental ways to work. Therefore Strictly analog studio can be explained with the help of two simple words: real and now.

REAL: Real project spaces are indispensable as the beating heart of the project. Exhibit rooms, free spaces or laboratories are located in Graz, Triest and Tokyo, all curated and operated by Strictly analog studio. Those locations are connected to the cities they operate in, but not just content-wise, also the actual local reference is reflected in production. On one hand, this spatial reference eases the ability to communicate with the municipality and on the other hand, it offers an ideal starting point for international artists to address the city and its creative scene.

NOW: As nothing is more productive than sharing a table ad working on ideas together, the term now describes the temporal element. Strictly analogue “studio views itself as catalyst for creative communication and gathers creative minds to discuss and work on different topics. In this case, the actual exchange with each other and discussions about certain problems in a laboratory-like environment are of importance again”.

Artists

OchoReSotto

OchoReSotto brings the art of visuals performance to analogue perfection. Stefan Sobotka- Grünewald, Volker Paul Sernetz and LiaRädler are projection artists, space designer and experimental film makers with a passion for Super 8 and 16mm. OchoReSotto’s visuals, music videos and installations are presented from Berlin to Tokyo. The founders of the Strictlyanalog studio live and work in Graz. This experimental lab also dedicates to worldwide networking of analogue artists work.

VirageVisuals

At the beginning of 2000 FulvioSabia started to visualize with Amiga 500 in the clubs and events in Trieste. He is a video maker and funder of VirageVisuals project, working for festivals, parties and live acts in the clubs around Italy, Austria and Slovenia.

Izland (Marko Vivoda in GašperMilkovič - Biloslav)

Izland are Marko Vivoda and GašperMilkovič - Biloslav, live visual performers, who are creating liquid organic patterns, textures and shapes, as a result of mixing different liquids, chemical solutions and reagents. They are collaborating with musicians such as Silence and electronic duo Random Logic.

echo 10-9 (Robertina Šebjanič in AlešHieng - Zergon)

The sound-video performance echo 10-9 takes place on the nano and micro level. With a clear analogue aesthetic it demonstrates the formal characteristics of materials, which are transformed on the spot, creating ambient a/v landscapes.

jesusonectasy

Jesusonecstasy creates music for theatre, documentaries and short movies. He produces sounds from home-made DIY electronic musical instruments and effects, hence the sound is extremely broad - from ambiental melodies made by analogue synthesizers all the way to lo-fi rhythmic parts deriving from rhythm machine.

Henry Bootz (GernotTutner)

GernotTutner has been a permanent fixture in the music scene of Graz since 2000. The bandwidth of Tutner's creative work ranges from club sound to experimental electronica. Since 2000 GernotTutner is an active part of the electronic music scene in Graz, acting there as DJ, live performer and promoter. In 2003 he began his three-year employment at the IEM - Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics, working with SeppoGründler, Johannes Zmölnig, WinfridRitsch and many other inspiring people. This period marked a step towards the improvised electronic music scene. In 2004 GernotTutner joined with friends to found the music collective moonbootz recordings. Since then he is playing the club sound under this label and today under the artist name Henry Bootz . In 2004 he also started with electronic computer based live performances playing his own productions. Live he often collaborates with other musicians, such as in the techno project Liquid Rotz with Gerald Schauder aka Kabelton or Elisabeth Schimana and Norbert Math in the A/V project Dope Beat Rose Garden. Since 2006 he is part of the organisation team of the V:NM festival as technical assistant.
